The Brothers Grimm are known as important linguists and collectors of fairytales. Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm spent their most prolific years in Kassel, and today’s Grimm World Kassel provides information about their life, work and influence.
How did the Brothers Grimm come up with their fairy tales?
In 1810, they met the Fairytale Lady of Niederzwehren, Dorothea Viehmann, who related over 40 fairytales to them, which they included in the second volume of their collection.
