In this simulation game, we want to pass a policy in the EU. It concerns the so-called “Applicant Tracking System,” which is used by many companies to automatically scan applications for qualifications or similar criteria. Today, AI is frequently used for this purpose. But what happens if the AI discriminates based on, for example, gender or origin, because that bias is also present in its training datasets?
We want to explore this question. To do so, there will first be an overview of current legislation on the topic of diversity, as well as the European legislative process. Afterward, we want to work in simulated interest groups to develop a legislative proposal and then vote on it in Parliament.
The workshop is being held in cooperation with the Berlaymont Project of JEF Hessen.
